Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful Antique Sheraton Mahogany Wash Stand. The stand was made in New England, likely Massachusetts, during the early 19th century. The stand has a raised scrolled gallery that showcases a nice set of dovetails at the back corners and has carved bullseye rosettes on the ears. The Mahogany selected for the stand is of the utmost quality showcasing a rich grain pattern and natural chatoyancy. The wash stand has scalloped sides and a bow front upper section with two narrow drawers on each side and a beautiful crotch Mahogany frontward face. The circular cut outs for the wash basin and toiletries were covered with a Mahogany board which makes the stand more practical for modern use. If you’d like to use this in the traditional manner with the porcelain basins, the board can be easily removed.

A pitcher of water was generally stored on the lower shelf for when it was time to wash up. The lower portion of the stand has a large drawer with a crotch or flame Mahogany face flanked by additional crotch Mahogany panels. The washstand rests on 4 finely turned legs that end in ball feet. The washstand measures 19 1/8” wide x 16 1/2” deep x 35 1/2” tall. The height at the lower shelf is 12 1/4” and the height at the upper shelf is 29 3/4”.
