Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful late 18th / early 19th century antique Mahogany card table / console table. The table has a demi-lune form and showcases a sophisticated design. The tabletop & corresponding leaf are solid Mahogany with a very attractive grain pattern & thumb molded edge along the perimeter. There’s a well-done repair on the right side of the top and a small bit of wood loss on the leaf right above it. The apron has a beautiful crotch Mahogany veneer with a compound inlay of ebony & holly along the lower edge which contrasts the rich Mahogany nicely. The legs are tapered & the back left leg is a gate leg which swivels out and supports the leaf when the tabletop is opened. We love the molded profile of the legs, it’s an uncommon design feature as most tables in this form that we encounter simply have flat tapered legs. The table is in very good condition with our only notes being the gate leg has developed a slight crook to it which is commonplace with these tables, and there is minor surface wear on the inside surface including a few ring marks and light scuffs. Despite the minor blemishes, we were willing to look past them because it’s such a lovely formed table. It’s important to remember this table was made CA 1800 so it’s roughly 225 years old and with that consideration it has remained in wonderful condition. The table measures 36” wide x 17 3/4” deep x 30” tall. When the table is flipped open the top measures 36” wide x 35 3/4” deep x 29 1/4” tall.
