Antique French Louis XV Style Walnut Vanity Bench With Needlepoint Floral Basket
Antique French Louis XV Style Walnut Vanity Bench With Needlepoint Floral Basket
With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this exceptional and rare antique vanity bench. Our clients are always requesting smaller antique benches for bedrooms, hallways, or otherwise difficult to furnish areas of the home. Since we are constantly in pursuit of higher end antique benches, we can state with all confidence that good examples are becoming increasingly difficult to source, and that the example we presently offer is one of the absolute best benches available anywhere. This bench has a wonderful size and will work well in nearly any room of the home being perfectly suited for everyday use. The frame of the bench is quite strong and has been maintained throughout its lifetime so that none of the structural strength has been compromised.
This antique vanity bench is at least a century old and likely originated in France by a master carver working in the Louis XV style. The entire walnut frame is profusely carved with rococo inspired design motifs in stunning detail with particular emphasis placed upon the curvature of each cabriole leg. The frame is further accented with floral carving work along all four sides which creates a consistent flowing design throughout the entire piece. The upholstered needlepoint covered top is perhaps the finest example of needlework we have ever encountered on any antique furniture item we have owned previously. A fully formed basket of flowers in full bloom is brought to life through the meticulous craftsmanship of the original artisan who hand stitched every subtle aspect of the upholstery. This bench measures 27 1/2" wide x 17" deep x 20" tall overall.
