Antique Embossed Brass Eagle Wall Hanging With Spread Wings
Antique Embossed Brass Eagle Wall Hanging With Spread Wings
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic late 19th / early 20th century antique brass eagle wall hanging. The eagle is made from embossed brass that was hammered over an unknown form. We’ve sold a couple of Bellamy eagles this year but they’re becoming increasingly harder to find and more expensive each year. We purchased two that were quickly sold to one of our clients who has been waiting for us to find one. In our opinion this example made of embossed brass is even better than just a wood carved one. The eagle is depicted grasping a rock with fully extended wings and an open beak. There’s a tremendous amount of detail in the feathers and the eagle is in superb condition with no cracks or separations to the brass. If you look at the back of the eagle, you can see the hanging plates that are welded to the top of the wings. There’s a steel wire attached to those plates, but our photo editors must have unintentionally cropped it out. This is a large eagle measuring 65” wide x 32” tall x 6” deep.
