With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this wonderful antique file cabinet. We are immensely proud to offer this file cabinet as it is one of the best examples we have been able to secure in quite some time. At the end of the 19th century, and into the early 20th century, these cabinets were built for libraries, offices, and businesses across the country. This cabinet is one of the finest ever put into production with a case made out of a premium grade of white oak including sections that have boldly figured tiger oak grain. The case is built with raised paneled construction which allows the wood to adjust to changes in atmosphere with each panel expanding and contrasting slightly within the framework. This design allows for these cabinets to age over time without suffering any changes or damage. Each of the fourteen drawers is fitted with the original brass drawer pull that have an area for identifying labels. The lower six drawers are slightly larger and each feature a brass file rod and tin drawer boxes whereas the top eight drawers have wooden drawer boxes. The entire file cabinet is in exceptional condition and has a beautiful finish which brings out the full depth of beauty of this antique cabinet. This file cabinet measures 21 1/4" wide x 20 1/4" deep (or 21" deep if accounting for the hardware which protrudes slightly) x 52" tall. The upper eight drawers have interior dimensions which measure 8" wide x 17" deep x 5 1/2" tall while the lower six drawers have interior dimensions which measure 9" wide x 16" deep (17" deep if wooden divider is removed) 6 1/2" tall.
