Antique Arts & Crafts Tiger Oak Hall Tree With Beveled Mirror & Japanned Hooks
Antique Arts & Crafts Tiger Oak Hall Tree With Beveled Mirror & Japanned Hooks
With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this exceptional antique hall tree. We consider this hall tree among the finest which we have ever offered and strongly feel that this example is superior in all aspects to anything being sold publicly. With respect to the varying examples of Victorian and Arts & Crafts hall trees currently being advertised through online platforms our present offering is simply the best iteration out there with respect to quality and design. This antique hall tree is a remarkable example of Arts & Crafts period design with the entirely of the frame being constructed of solid tiger oak lumber. The center of the hall tree features a spectacular piece of beveled mirrored glass which is in impeccable condition and completely original to the frame. There are two carved bellflower motifs applied to the upper corners of the hall tree which accent the piece beautifully. The top of the frame has a subtle arched form that brings a sense of balance and grace to the entirety of the hall tree. The base ends are also curved in the tradition of architectural corbel supports. These curved embellishments perfectly enhance the aesthetics of this hall tree as without these design features the piece might feel imposing due to the large stature of the frame. There are two japanned coat hooks present on either side that are undoubtedly special and far superior to the standard cast metal coat hooks commonly found on hall trees of this period. The front of the hall tree is elevated by two molded feet which enhance the presence of the overall design. The hall tree measures 32" wide at the body (35" at hooks) x 15 1/2" deep x 77 3/4" tall.
