Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this wonderful early 20th century Antique Tiger Oak four drawer desktop file cabinet. These were made in a few different sizes, and this is one of the larger ones. The cabinet was made by Yawman & Erbe of Rochester, NY, and retains its original brass label on the bottom center of the cabinet. Yawman & Erbe was founded in the late 19th century and produced a large number of office & library furnishings including file cabinets, desks, chairs, etc.. Yawman & Erbe products are one our most sought-after early office products because they were all built to a high standard and remain perfectly useable even after ~100 years. The Quarter sawn oak selected for this cabinet showcases a bold Tiger Oak grain with large rays and flecks present. The cabinet is solid as a rock thanks to the dovetail construction joining the top & bottom to the sides, and each drawer retains their original Nickel pulls with the Y&E monogram etched into them. The drawers have useable dimensions of 9 1/8” wide x 13 3/4” deep (15” if tension plates removed) x 6 1/4” tall. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 22 1/4” wide x 17” deep (17 3/4” w pull) x 15” tall.
