Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this wonderful early 20th century antique Arts & Crafts Oak Armchair. The finish is a little distressed, but all in all it is still a great chair. The previous owner reupholstered the chair with a beautiful high-quality orange leather and intended to refinish the chair as well. They weren’t able to see the refinishing through because they were putting their house on the market, and we purchased the majority of their collection. It was an eclectic collection with mainly Limbert and JM Young furniture, but there were a couple of Stickley pieces as well. We believe this one is a JM Young chair but couldn’t locate a label or maker's mark. We’ve already sold a couple pieces from the estate and were considering having this refinished before offering it for sale, but we really don’t mind the old weathered finish. The previous owners scrubbed the proper right arm with some steel wool & furniture polish which cut right through the old finish highlighting the beautiful oak underneath. If our end buyer would like the opposite arm scrubbed to match, we’d be happy to do so before it’s delivered or shipped. It’s not unusual for the arms to be lighter anyways because they’re constantly being rubbed against and the oils on our skin break down the finish and lighten the wood with prolonged use. The chair is solid as a rock and very comfortable thanks to recently reupholstered spring seat. The chair measures 26 1/8” wide arm to arm x 19 1/2” deep at the base x 38” tall with a 19” seat height. The seat measures a generous 20” wide x 20” deep.
