Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century antique Arts & Crafts / Mission Oak Smoking cabinet. Smoking cabinets like this one became popular during the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods, reaching their peak during the Arts & Crafts movement (circa 1890–1920). They reflected a growing interest in craftsmanship and domestic refinement, providing an elegant way to store tobacco, pipes, and accessories discreetly within the parlor or study. Often made of oak or mahogany with handwrought brass fittings, these cabinets were both functional and decorative, embodying the movement’s ideals of honest materials and quality workmanship.

The cabinet has a splayed form with recessed panel sides and a vibrant quarter-sawn Oak grain on the door. The brass strap hinges exhibit a pleasing design and there is a Cupid’s bow scrolling pattern at the bottom of the door. The interior of the cabinet has two circular cut outs & three hanging rings on the door. The hanging rings would have been used to hold smoking related instruments like tampers, cigar cutters, pipe tools, etc. The interior cavity measures 12 1/2” wide x 12” deep x 17 1/4” tall and would house tobacco jars, humidors, etc. The circular cut outs on the right side were generally used as pipe rests. The circular cutouts measuring 3 1/2” in diameter can also accommodate wine or liquor bottles, making this a charming and versatile piece for modern use as a small bar or spirits cabinet. The cabinet is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear. The cabinet measures 15 5/8” wide x 15” deep x 23 1/4” tall. The top measures 15” wide x 15” deep.
