Antique Art Deco Cast Iron Vanity / Window Bench With Theatrical Dancing Figures
Antique Art Deco Cast Iron Vanity / Window Bench With Theatrical Dancing Figures
With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this wonderful antique vanity bench. This bench is an exciting and rare example of Art Deco period design and features theatrical dancing figures amidst a field of spiraling curled ironwork. Particular detail is worked into the iron creating a sense of movement stemming from the dancing figures along with exaggerated anatomical proportions that enhance the tone of the work lending to a sense of despair. The original white paint still remains decorated over the dancing figures allowing for contrast and additional vibrancy. The upper side ends of the bench exhibit the geometric forms of traditional art deco design found often in architecture and decorative art. The bench is made complete with four well executed and finely styled feet and a well-formed stretcher which spans the distance between both side supports. The seat appears to have the original upholstered fabric which can be left alone or updated if so desired. This example is one of the finest antique art deco items we have been fortunate enough to encounter and we have no doubt it will ultimately be well loved by a collector of this spectacular design movement. This bench measures 24 1/4" long x 12 1/2" wide at the base x 19" tall overall.
