When grading antique file cabinets we like to first look at the quality of the lumber itself, this cabinet was crafted with superior quarter-sawn oak with vibrant rays and flecks present in the grain. Construction is also a significant aspect when grading these cabinets. This example has frame and panel sides which are aesthetically pleasing and also a telltale sign of advanced craftsmanship as the panel can move ever so slightly within the frame system and adapt to seasonal changes in humidity without the risk of splitting. Condition is also important, this file cabinet is in fantastic condition and was finished in the perfect medium brown color. This would make great companion piece to a standard four drawer oak file cabinet or on top of an oak desk. The drawers are a bit wider & taller than most that we encounter and have useable dimensions of 6 1/8” wide x 9” deep x 4 1/2” tall. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 17 1/2” wide x 11 1/8” deep x 16 3/8” tall.
