Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this absolutely fantastic late 18th / early 19th century antique New England Sheraton Tiger Maple Worktable. As their name suggests, these tables were often worked at by the lady of the house. Today they make great side tables, bedside nightstands, or simply as an accent piece anywhere in the home.
The Tiger Maple is bold & lively throughout the table, especially so on the top, drawer face, and the legs. The table has a single drawer for added utility with a lovely embossed brass pull with a floral design. The legs are finely turned with a series of ringlets towards the top before swelling and tapering back down. The table was finished in a beautiful orange/amber color and has a clean, refined Federal silhouette with pleasing proportions. Its relative simplicity allows the dramatic figuring of the maple to take center stage. The side panels, back panel, and the transition underneath the drawer have some light Bird’s Eye Maple figuring.
The Worktable is in wonderful condition with our only notes being minimal surface wear. The finish presents beautifully, with no significant structural issues noted. The worktable measures 20 1/4” wide x 20” deep x 26 3/4” tall.
