With our highest compliments we're delighted to offer for sale this great 19th Century Colored Lithograph Titled "Prise D'Alexandrie" or the Fall of Alexandria. The Fall of Alexandria or the Taking of Alexandria is a scene depicting the French Army's invasion of Egypt under command of Napoleon Bonaparte. Also know as the battle of the pyramids the battle is often a subject of French Nationalistic art and pride. A similar scene can be seen on the Arc De Triomphe. The colored scene here shows French and Egyptian soldiers, some on calvary in an active engagement among a desert landscape with a fortified coastal front. The lithograph is framed and in great condition with minimal crease lines and very minimal spotting. The piece measures 24 1/2" wide x 18" tall.
