Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this wonderful vintage carved & painted sandpiper. The shorebird is signed Weber 6/75 in pencil and says it’s a piping plover. It doesn’t really look like a plover to us, we think it’s a spotted sandpiper or something. We love when bird carvings have some dynamism to them, the bird has its neck outstretched in what we believe is a running position. The bird has a single dowel used for the legs and is mounted on a live edge wood plinth. The carving measures 11 3/4” long from bill to tail x 1 3/4” deep at the body x 12” tall on the stand.
