We're pleased to offer for sale this absolutely gorgeous 20th century mahogany four post queen size flat top tester bed by Baker furniture company. Baker furniture company began in the late 19th century in Grand Rapids alongside many other popular furniture makers. The area was richly wooded and commonly referred to as "Furniture City" with the emergence of the many shops. The founder, Siebe Baker, created his first desk in 1893 and the company steadily flourished into the industry staple it is today. A classic 18th century design tester & canopy beds are highly desirable. Baker furniture continues to produce some of the finest home furniture available.
This queen size plantation style bed is in a wonderful and clean red mahogany finish with a beautiful usage of grain especially on the headboard. The bed has block collared feet with decorative brass bed bolt covers. The post transitions to an acanthus carved urn turning and then to a elegant tapered & reeded post. The flat top tester components are easy to assemble, fit tightly, and have not been altered.The bed has 4 turned urn finials above the tester and iron L brackets to support the box spring. The bed is signed baker with a metal rose in crown tag. This bed measures 66" wide x 87" long x 81" tall. The interior measurements are 60 1/2" x 80" perfect for a queen size box spring.
