20TH CENTURY CHIPPENDALE ANTIQUE STYLE MAHOGANY PIE CRUST EDGE KETTLE / WINE STAND

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

We're pleased to offer for sale this great early 20th century Chippendale antique style mahogany kettle / wine stand. This stand is mahogany with an attractive usage of grain on the top with a crisp scalloped or pie crust carved edge. The column has a carved compressed flame turning and a series of tapering ringlet turnings. The table stands on 3 cabriolet legs dovetailed into the base with a stepped knee design commonly found in Pennsylvania furniture. This is a high quality reproduction of an 18th century Philadelphia pie crust stand with the original most likely in a Philadelphia museum, the MFA, the MET or a similar tier institution. Museums can license out the designs and commonly did for the best 20th century furniture makers. The legs terminate in wonderfully carved ball and claw talon feet. These feet have so much character and combined with the exceptional column and pie crust carved edge this table is a fine addition to any traditional home.
