20TH CENTURY CHIPPENDALE ANTIQUE STYLE MASSACHUSETTS BONNET TOP MAHOGANY SHELL CARVED HIGHBOY / CHEST OF DRAWERS ~ SALEM SCHOOL
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful 20th century bench made Chippendale antique style mahogany highboy / chest of drawers. This Salem Massachusetts design chest exhibits nice proportions and is in very good condition with vibrant mahogany drawer faces. The upper case features a 3 over 3 format with a shell carved center drawer, bonnet top, carved rosettes, & turned flame finials. The base section has two drawers with a matching shell carving along the lower drawer. The bottom most grouping of drawers is one full width drawer made to appear as three. We've always had a few highboys around the house but more often than not opt to use a good centennial or 20th century one for our clothes. This chest is in excellent condition free of odors and capable of holding a large wardrobe. The apron has an elegant scrolling pattern with floral carved volutes that enhance it's overall grace and appearance. The highboy measures 41" wide x 20 1/2" deep and stands 79" tall on finely formed cabriole legs with shell carvings at the knee & exceptionally well executed ball & claw feet.
