With our highest compliments and utmost honors, Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional late 19th / early 20th century antique Tiger Oak stacking file cabinet on frame. The cabinet was made by the Library Bureau Sole Makers who crafted files of all sizes along with a wide array of other library & office furnishing like desks, desk chairs, display cases, etc.. Almost every single library Bureau Makers piece we encounter is still in great working order and they very rarely require any maintenance. Their longevity & durability is a true testament to how well they were made. We handle a good deal of their standard file cabinets but haven’t had one of these in a couple of years. This would have been one of their more expensive products and we’re sure a lot fewer were made. The file has 54 drawers all with their original thumb molded index plate pulls except for 1 drawer on the bottom right. The drawers can hold legal size papers with interior dimensions of 9 1/4” wide x 15 1/4” deep x 1 1/2” tall. We purchased a similar file recently that doesn’t come apart and it really made us appreciate the fact that this cabinet can break down into 4 separate components (3 sections 1 frame). The file cabinet measures 33” wide x 17 1/2” deep x 57” tall.
