20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE WROUGHT IRON HEART BACK ICE CREAM PARLOR CHAIRS
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
We're pleased to offer for sale this great set of 6 antique wrought iron & walnut heart back ice cream parlor chairs. Ice cream parlors have long been a part of history with the earliest modern traces dating back to the early 18th century. These early gelato or iced dairy treats were generally reserved for the wealthy upper class. With the invention and popularity of automobiles and rail travel ice cream became a popular more accessible delight. This led to a significant increase of ice cream parlors and malt shoppes. This great early 20th century set of six wrought iron chairs have a twisted wrought iron base and heart designed backs. These are in untouched condition with some paint loss but could easily be re painted, personally we enjoy the natural old surface. The wood seats are in great condition and they're nice and sturdy. These are absolutely wonderful in cafe and retail settings. Each chair measures 17" wide x 17" deep x 35" tall with an 18" seat height.
