With our highest compliments and honors we're proud to offer for sale this fantastic & rare 19+ foot Persian Hamadan runner. The Hamadan region is in the Western part of Persia and has been a major rug & carpet trade city for well over a thousand years. Hamadan rugs are highly collectible and known for being superior quality rugs with great durability. This example features a repeating geometric floral design with wonderful vibrant colors including soft greens, cream, pink, blue, black, & mostly madder red. The red color is a natural dye from an indigenous plant with the pigment coming from the deep red root of the plant. The practice of extracting these colors is so old a cloth dyed with matter root was discovered in King Tut's tomb. This is a very attractive, choice antique runner that hasn't been cut or repaired with no rips holes or stains. The carpet is also odor free and measures 19 feet 8 inches long x 35" wide. The carpet retains an old import tag on the back.
