With our highest compliments we're proud to offer for sale this exceptional early 20th century antique Art Nouveau server. We're extensive buyers of early arts & crafts furniture and this server really got us excited. True Art Nouveau furniture is very rare and this example shines at every level. Our Arts & Crafts collectors understand what they're looking at and this is every bit the quality of institutional cabinet makers such as Stickley, Limbert, Ellis etc. The Arts & Crafts period was a social movement againt mass produced machine made objects to more intimate artisan made goods. The cabinet is crafted from tiger or quartersawn oak as typical with the period & style. Oak was coveted among Arts & Crafts cabinet makers for it's durability and natural decoration. The cabinet makes good use of the tiger grain with long rays & vibrant flecks throughout the cabinet. The cabinet retains it's original hammered copper hardware with embossed copper strap hinges on the cabinet door. The sideboard features a full size mirrored gallery with exceptional variegated wood Art Nouveau inlay. The server is further decorated with pierced tulip panels adjacent to the candle shelf & below the serving surface. The server measures 62” wide at the crown (54” @ front) x 23 1/2” deep x 64” tall. The height at the serving surface is 36 1/2”.
