EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS / MISSION OAK SIDEBOARD / SERVER ~ JC WIDMAN & CO DETROIT
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
With our highest compliments we're proud to offer for sale this exceptional early 20th century antique Arts & Crafts / Mission Oak diminutive sideboard by JC Widman & co. JC Widman and co was founded in 1900 after John Widman left his long standing family business of CD Widman due to internal disputes. JC Widman & co was a highly skilled & successful cabinet making shop furnishing homes of Detroit's wealthiest citizens. The company was so successful they went on to open showrooms in New York City & Chicago. The sideboard exhibits a balanced 3 over 1 drawer configuration with the top drawer retaining the original purple felt liner for silver. The sideboard is made of quarter sawn oak with nice rays & flecks present in the grain. The server retains it's original hand hammered Arts & Crafts pulls & original locks and escutcheons. The JC Widman label is located on the back in great intact condition. This didn't come to us with a key but we'd be happy to match one up for our end client. We're so exited to offer this piece because of it's diminutive scale. We have a lot of clients in spatially restrictive cities looking for sideboards & servers from early American - Mid Century Modern but most are well over 5 feet and simply wont work for their interiors. This is one of the sweetest Arts & Crafts cabinets we've had the pleasure of offering in quite some time. This server measures 50" wide x 20" deep x 45 1/4" tall at the top of the gallery. The height at the serving surface is 38 1/2" tall.
