We are delighted to offer you this 19th century Secretary Abattant Desk. This is a very special piece of the very finest grade in the early Biedermeier decorative movement. It is executed in a powerfully grained figured crotched mahogany. It has a counter-weighted drop desk front that rides on iron arms with large cast iron weights, nicely carved right & left columns, very cleverly concealed interior & exterior valance drawers, a large Prospectors compartment flanked by banks of three right and left drawers and three lower case drawers under the drop lid with one being yet another cleverly concealed base slipper drawer. It is in wonderful condition with our only flaw notating being the loss of a tiny mother of pearl escutcheon plate and some minor aging to another escutcheon. When buying by photos you deserve nothing less. It measures 42" long, 21" wide and 58" tall.
