19th Century Antique Sheraton Mahogany Worktable / Stand With Octagonal Legs
19th Century Antique Sheraton Mahogany Worktable / Stand With Octagonal Legs
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic early 19th century antique New England Sheraton Mahogany worktable / nightstand. The worktable has two drawers with exceptionally beautiful crotch Mahogany veneers used for the faces and leg blocks. Oftentimes referred to as Flame Mahogany, Crotched Mahogany is rare because it can only be found where the limbs of a Mahogany tree split and form a “V” shape. The drawers were constructed with pine secondaries and have really nice embossed brass pulls and carved wood escutcheons. The original locks are still present, but this didn’t come to us with a key. The table has a Mahogany top with a thumb molded edge and the sides were also constructed with high grade Mahogany. In addition to being in excellent condition, what truly makes this a remarkable worktable is the octagonal form of the legs. We strongly believe this was made in or around Boston, but to err on the side of caution, we have this advertised as a New England stand. This is one of the prettiest stands we’ve encountered in some time, and we’re excited to offer this to our clients around the country. If condition and originality are important to you, we would recommend this stand without hesitation.
