We're pleased to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century antique Victorian double door walnut bookcase. This is a charming little piece crafted from walnut and burled walnut used on the drawer and panel blocks along the doors. This bookcase has shallow recessed linear carvings along the drawer and doors. This has great stamped brass Victorian drawer pulls, a brass knob to open the bookcase and the original escutcheon plate. The cabinet has two interior shelves that can be raised or lowered with wooden shelf supports. If you look closely at how the shelves sit you can see just how many height adjustments there are for the shelves. This is a big consideration for those with considerable libraries looking to optimize every inch. The drawer is missing the lock but retains the carved wooden escutcheon. Examining the bottom drawer, and we almost missed this. There is a rounded star shape veneer repair on the bookmatched veneers. This was most likely done because a knot was present and fell out. This is the highest quality of a repair where it almost makes the piece better. This bookcase is 36 1/2" wide x 15" deep x 55 1/2" tall.
