Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this fantastic pair of folk art painted thumb back Windsor chairs. The chairs are unaltered and retain all of their original charm & integrity. We can't tell you how many good primitive chairs we have to pass up on due to condition issues. The chairs have 4 base stretchers & are nice and sturdy. The paint is built up in layers with a number of different pigments with a black over red showing the most. The chairs have a nice floral stenciled decoration along the crest with complimentary stenciling along the stiles, seat, & spokes. The chair has a comfortable shaped saddle seat and gold ringlets painted along the legs to imitate a bamboo turning. The chairs measures 17" wide x 15" deep x 32" tall with a seat height of 16 1/2".
