19TH CENTURY REVERSE PAINTED ON GLASS NEW ENGLAND COTTAGE SCENE WITH MOTHER OF PEARL ILLUMINATED MOON
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We've been hard at work aggressively pursuing important decorative arts and antiques for our discerning clients.
Were please to offer for sale this rare reverse painted oil on glass New England cottage scene with mixed media mother of pearl inlay. We've seen work similar to this come out of Massachusetts and Connecticut artist colonies of the 19th century. The scene depicts a rural New England cottage along a body of water in a deciduous lush landscape. The artist uses mother of pearl to illuminate the light from within the warm cottage and the radiant moon. It's a very charming scene with very minimal age appropriate paint loss. The overall dimensions are 31" wide x 27" tall x 4" deep. The sight size is 19 1/2" x 15 1/2".
