19th CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE 3 DRAWER NIGHTSTAND WITH HAND PAINTED BADERSCENE HARDWARE

We're pleased to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century French Louis XVI 3 drawer nightstand with raised gallery and the best hand painted baderscene hardware. This chest is made of walnut and burled walnut and uses a very nice visually pleasing cross banded effect. This chest is covered in ormolu from top to bottom. A wonderful brass cherub among acanthus leaves sits between the broken arch pediment. The pediment is further accented with brass acanthus and bead decorations. Each dovetailed drawer is bookmatched and decorated with a cross banding, string inlay, and finely formed brass escutheon plates. This chest retains it's 6 original hand painted baderscene plaques on a porcelain medium. We were delighted that they all remained intact with no breaks or chips. We often encounter chests like these with damaged plaques and have to walk away from them. If you've ever had to replace one I'm sure you'd understand. Each hand painted plaque shows a finely executed romantic courting scene. The shaped gallery is divided into two shelves also decorated with a brass edge banding. The nightstand terminates in simple cabriolet legs again adorned with fine knee and foot jewelry.
