19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CENTENNIAL THOMAS AFFLECK REPRODUCTION WALNUT HIGHBOY
With our highest compliments and utmost honors we're proud to offer for sale this wonderful antique centennial Philadelphia Thomas Affleck style antique walnut high boy. This is without a doubt one of the finest pieces of case furniture we've had the pleasure of offering for quite some time. This is a 19th century chest made around the centennial celebration. As the centennial celebration approached and was enjoyed there was a vast revisiting of arts & design from America's "Golden Age" 100 years prior. Philadelphia Chippendale furniture is probably the most collectible school of furniture. This chest commands attention standing 88" tall on carved ball & claw cabriole legs with shell carved knees. The base is decorated with carved quarter columns, a nicely scrolled and carved apron, & a finely carved center drawer. The upper chest of drawers features a desirable 3 over 2 over 3 graduated drawer format. The chest is further decorated with additional carved quarter columns, a wonderfully formed goose neck or broken arch pediment with impressive carved floral rosettes & great turned and carved flame finials. The chest is in fantastic condition with all of it's original locks and brasses present. This is a chance to own a one off of a priceless Philadelphia masterpiece that's every bit the quality at a fraction of the cost. The high boy measures 39" wide x 22" deep x 88" tall.
