19th C Antique Victorian Walnut Marble Top Dresser ~ Thomas Brooks ~ Nyc
With our highest compliments and honors Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional 19th century antique Victorian walnut dresser by Thomas Brooks. Thomas brooks was a prolific institutional level cabinet maker practicing in New York city at the height of the revival period. Brooks furniture continues to be one of the most collectible fields of American cabinetry. The Victorian period is considered the longest lasting style with rough dates of about 1840-1900. The Victorian period featured a number of revival periods such as Gothic, Rococo, renaissance, & neoclassical to name a few. It was a wonderful period of rediscovery in an advanced era. This is without a doubt one of the best Victorian chests we've had the pleasure of offering in some time and are excited to offer this to our clients around the globe. The dresser is crafted from native black walnut with exceptional burl panels used on the drawer faces and surrounding the mirror. The mirror pediment is highly carved and the mirror has large candle shelves at each side with two glove box drawers at the surface. The chest has 3 drawers with burled walnut panels & one hidden drawer along the base molding. The uppermost drawer is fully compartmentalized with birds eye maple dividers. Not a dime was spared when crafting this chest and it still commands the same attention to this day. The dresser measures 51" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 93" tall.
