19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE VICTORIAN TIGER OAK MIRRORED HALL TREE / LIFT TOP BENCH

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques is proud to bring to market yet another impressive 19th century antique Victorian tiger oak hall tree / bench. Hall trees like this came into fashion during the Victorian period as more and more homes featured dedicated entry ways and open foyers. Aside from homes being larger, the number of clothes people owned increased as well. A hall bench or hall tree provided its owner a nice last look before they entered the home or ventured out into the world. Personal appearance and proper etiquette was a large part of Victorian society. The hall tree is finished in a warm golden oak color with nice tiger oak grain and is in exceptionally fine condition. The hall tree has a beveled glass mirrored back with minimal silvering loss enveloped by a spool carved border. The entire cabinet is heavily decorated with fantastic Art Nouveau floral & tendril carvings that really make this hall tree spring to life. The hall tree measures 41 1/2" wide x 17 1/2" deep x 84 1/4" tall with a seat height of 18" The seat alone measures 33 3/4" wide between the arms x 15 1/2" deep. The coat hooks on the hall tree are all double armed with hat hooks.
