19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE VICTORIAN TIGER OAK BARRISTER BOOKCASE BY DANNER MANUFACTURING COMPANY ~ CANTON, OHIO

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this great 19th century antique Victorian tiger oak barrister bookcase. The John Danner Manufacturing Company was founded in 1874 in Canton, Ohio and held patents on a wide array of products from revolving bookcases, specialized book rests and stands, & elastic barrister bookcases like this one. This is a better than most example with nice bold tiger oak grain, original wavy glass doors, 4 adjustable shelves, & a really sweet egg and dart carving along the top. Danner manufacturing company primarily worked with Ash, Cherry, Oak, & Walnut but he was always open to custom orders whether it be additional carvings, odd size requests, or special lumbers being used. The extra carving work would have only been an extra dollar or two but it was a considerable amount as the average workers daily salary was just over a dollar. The bookcase breaks down into 4 sections and measures 37" wide x 14" deep x 56 3/4" tall. The interior has a split configuration with 4 shelves with 12 different height adjustments. The interior dimensions of the cabinet are 17 1/4" wide x 9" deep x 22 1/2" tall.
