19TH CENTURY ARTS & CRAFTS / MISSION OAK DANNER CO. REVOLVING BOOKCASE WITH FANTASTIC BRASS GALLERY
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
With our highest compliments we're pleased to offer for sale this absolutely wonderful early tiger oak revolving bookcase by the John Danner co. John Danner patented his design in 1876 and they were offered in a few select varieties. The entire oak structure is suspended a top a central inner column. Similar "lazy susan" designs were available at the time but Danner's bookcases were crafted much better with a single pivot point supporting the bookcase giving the easiest operation. John Danner said "These cases, with their immense load, revolve with a slight touch of the hand; are noiseless in operation, and will last a lifetime."
This bookcase is exceptionally clean and is signed with a patent date of 1876 & 1877. This bookcase retains it's original iron & wood base that these were sold on at the factory. This is a great 3 tier case free from damage we're proud to offer. This example is crafted from beautiful grain white ash. We have no trouble shipping these all over the US and would be happy to provide you with a shipping quote.
