With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century antique Victorian floral carved bed. The bed is crafted from American Walnut with exceptional book matched burl wood panels used on the headboard, footboard, and rails. Burled walnut still commands a hefty price for cabinet makers around the globe, a single large burl can be worth tens of thousands of dollars. The burl pattern on the headboard is exceptionally rare and visually striking when book matched together. The burl on the footboard is still very nice and was selected to compliment the burl on the headboard, not compete with it. The bed is decorated with incised geometric & floral carvings throughout the frame with carved rosettes & great recessed floral carvings along the top center of the footboard and headboard. The bed is in wonderful condition with our only condition note being an old age split on the lower panel of the headboard that was re glued and is now nice and tight. The bed measures 62 1/4” wide x 79 1/4” deep x 75” tall at the headboard and 31 3/4” tall at the footboard. The interior measures 54” wide x 75” deep with the height at the top of the rails being 15 3/4” tall.
