19th C Antique Southern Walnut Hepplewhite Chest Of Drawers / Dresser
19th C Antique Southern Walnut Hepplewhite Chest Of Drawers / Dresser
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional late 18th / 19th century antique Hepplewhite Walnut chest of drawers. The chest has four drawers with cock bead molded faces & inlaid wood escutcheons. The inlays around the key holes are in surprisingly good condition and the chest retains its original diminutive brass pulls. The top overhangs on the back and has an unusual mitered edge at the back corners that can help regionalize the piece. The chest has finely formed French feet with a very pleasing scrolling pattern at the skirt that we know we’ve seen recently but can’t recall where. All four drawers actuate with ease and are constructed with hand cut dovetails, hand chamfered panels, & have original scribe marks present. The chest has Southern Yellow Pine secondaries and backboards and we’ve handled a few pieces with the same case construction from Georgia but are selling this as just a Southern chest because we can’t say Georgia with 100% certainty. We’d like to give every item the proper research it deserves but we have so much new inventory coming in the door and almost every piece we offer is significant and warrants further attention. The chest measures 41” wide x 20” deep x 37 1/2” tall.
