Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic & rare early 19th century antique New Hampshire worktable / nightstand. We love the legs on this stand because they’re unusual & unique. The legs have a series of ringlet turnings at the top and swell at the midpoint. The legs then taper back in with a final ringlet towards the bottom and terminate with compressed ball feet. The stand has a single drawer with an embossed brass pull that has a really sweet Oak leaf decoration. The stand is entirely peg joined and there’s some really great figuring in the Birch that was used for the table. When Birch is figured like this it’s often referred to as Flame Birch. Flame Birch is pretty rare because only a fraction of Birch trees will develop this figuring. The heaviest figuring can be seen on the top, the side panels, & on the back left leg. The stand is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & some later nails that were added to the top. The stand measures 19” wide x 17 1/2” deep x 28 1/4” tall.
