19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SHERATON MAHOGANY 1 DRAWER ROPE LEG DROP LEAF DINING TABLE
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
We're pleased to offer for sale this great 19th century antique sheraton period mahogany drop leaf table. The table is defined by it's wonderfully formed rope carved legs with complex turning patterns & a single drawer fitted with original floral brass pull. This table is crafted from the best cuts of imported Caribbean mahogany and is in a nice old finish. We apologize for the glare in the images, we'll work on getting this re photographed. We strongly feel this is a North Shore table but the form did persist throughout New England with an emphasis in coastal communities. Wealthy business men & land owners would often times commission elements of their trade into their furniture design. We see this with rice & tobacco carvings on plantation beds & here with rope twist legs for a man who made his wealth at sea or through maritime trade. The table measures 36" wide x 17 1/2" deep x 29" tall. When the leaves are locked up the width goes from 17 1/2" to 38 1/2" wide.
