Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional early 19th century antique Sheraton Mahogany 2 drawer work table. The table was probably made in Connecticut and has an extremely rare split drawer format. The stand is mainly Cherry with Pine secondaries and vibrant crotch Mahogany veneers used for the faces. The tabletop is comprised of 3 cherry boards with an attractive figuring and streaks of sapwood with subtle pinched corners. The drawers are constructed with hand cut dovetails and hand chamfered bottoms with old embossed brass pulls depicting a woman in classical attire. The stand likely started it’s life with wood pulls but it’s not uncommon to see the hardware upgraded later on as brass hardware was still quite expensive & wasn’t always readily available. The table is in fantastic condition with our only notes being very minimal surface wear. The stand measures 24 1/4" wide x 17 3/4" deep x 29" tall.
