Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic pair of 19th century antique Federal period cannonball beds. The dark finish is meant to imitate Mahogany and the beds have cannonball tops & Acanthus leaf carved posts. Acanthus carvings vary in design in different regions and these are carved in the New York style. The beds are held together with square head carriage bolts and are nice & sturdy. The headboards do have moderate wear from the previous owner’s sons, but on the bright side you don’t have to worry about your children or guests scratching the headboards. The headboards could be easily refinished in a couple of hours, but most importantly the posts are in fantastic condition. The beds have a turned blanket rail and the bolts are covered with embossed brass bed bolt covers. The interior of the beds measures 36 3/4” wide x 74 1/4” deep. This is slightly smaller than standard twin size and we’re happy to answer any questions or assist with ordering custom bedding. The overall dimensions of the bed are 43 1/2” wide x 81 1/2” deep x 45” tall.
