Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic 19 century antique Sheraton fancy paint washstand. The stand has a beautiful black and red paint decoration with gold stenciling throughout the piece. The backsplash has a stenciled basket of fruit with stenciled flowers on the ears. The stand also has a single drawer with a wood pull & foliate decoration. The stand is made from Pine and the drawer is constructed with hand cut dovetails & a hand chamfered panel. The paint decoration is completely undisturbed with our only condition notes being minor paint loss where the basin would sit but that’s not unusual because these were primitive sinks and were used multiple times a day. The large circular cut out is designed to hold a basin and the accompanying pitcher of water was stored on the lower shelf. The stand measures 17” wide x 14” deep x 37 1/2” tall.
