We're pleased to offer for sale this great 19th century primitive New England mahogany grain painted 2 drawer lift top blanket box. This is a country made piece, we believe this is a Vermont cabinet but the form persisted throughout much of New England. Mahogany wasn't available outside of major trade cities so this grain painted cabinet would have been the next best thing for them. The two drawer faces have simulated book matched crotch mahogany fronts with an all over painted mahogany design. The box retains it's original lock and escutcheon covers. The chest is 38" wide x 19" deep x 42 1/2" tall.
