Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful early 19th century antique Federal period Mahogany Pembroke table. The Mahogany selected for the top has a beautiful grain pattern and a nice luster caused by the naturally occurring oil density of the wood. The table has a variegated wood inlay around the drawer and along the skirt. The table has a single drawer with a round brass ring pull and a faux drawer with a matching pull on the back side of the table. The brass pull is stamped “HJ” on the bail which lets us know these were imported from England and were made by Hands & Jenkins. The drawer is extra-long (13 1/4” wide x 22” deep) and is constructed with hand cut dovetails and a hand chamfered panel. There are a couple of small scratches on the drawer face and an old, well-done repair on the right side of the drawer face. There’s a shadow from an overhead power line that can be seen on our top-down photos but this is just a shadow, not a dark diagonal mark on the table. The table is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear, but certainly nothing that would warrant a refinishing. When the leaves are down the table measures 19” wide x 35 3/4” deep x 28 1/4” tall. When the leaves are locked up the top measures 36 1/2” wide x 35 3/4” deep.
