19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE FEDERAL PERIOD CURLY CHERRY DROP LEAF WORK TABLE / NIGHT STAND
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this charming 19th century antique Federal period Cherry work table / nightstand. The table possesses a vibrant curly cherry drop leaf top with pinched corners. The table has a single drawer with pine secondaries, hand cut dovetails, & hand chamfered bottoms rich with tool marks. The table has very finely formed tapered reeded legs with ringlet turnings & compressed ball feet. We have to be pretty selective with our work tables as most people don't want to spend ~$250 to ship a $500 table across the country. Aside from the table's exceptional form and utilitarianism, the rare curly cherry set this right off the charts for us. Roughly 200 years ago when this table was made it wouldn't have been as desirable of a piece as the same table made from imported Mahogany. It's funny how things change as today the opposite is true. The stand measures 23" wide x 22" deep x 27 3/4" tall. When the leaves are extended there's a generous work surface measuring 39 1/4" wide x 22" deep.
