19th C Antique Federal Period Cherry Drop Leaf Pembroke Table With Drawer
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic 19th century antique Cherry Pembroke table. We purchased this from a local Connecticut home in Hartford County and believe it’s a Connecticut table but the form was used throughout New England. The table is crafted from superb cuts of figured Cherry finished in a beautiful Amber color. These types of tables are very utilitarian and can be used as a small dining table, in an entryway, or even as a large nightstand. The table has one drawer with a high-quality English brass pull with a cornucopia design that was a later addition. We removed the brass and found the England stamp and there’s a very small screw hole completely covered by the new brass where a single wood or brass knob was originally used. This isn’t unusual to see as brass hardware was still quite expensive when the table was made and the majority of brasses were imported from England and not always available because of political tensions & the inherent risks of transatlantic trade. The drawer is constructed with pine secondaries and has a single panel chamfered bottom & hand cut dovetails. The table is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear. The table measures 21” wide x 32” deep x 28 3/4” tall. The top alone measures 18 3/4” wide x 32” deep. When the leaves are locked up the table measures 37 3/4” wide x 32” deep.
