Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic 19th century antique New England Cherry drop leaf table. This fits a good design need because most we encounter are in a darker finish. The table has a figured Cherry top with rounded corners and a flared end on each leaf. The scrolling is pretty unusual and is part of the charm that comes with country made pieces opposed to ones made in a major city like Boston. New England country cabinet makers would usually work in native woods like Cherry or Maple as Mahogany was quite expensive and often times wouldn’t make it too far past the port cities. The table is extremely well made and is in fantastic condition with our only notes being a few discolorations to the top, minor wood loss near one of the hinges at the rule joint, and minimal surface wear. The table is completely undisturbed and retains its original iron hinges and the original glue blocks are still present. The table measures 19 3/4” wide x 35 1/2” deep x 29 1/4” tall. When the leaves are locked up the top measures 46” wide x 35 1/2” deep.
