20TH CENTURY BAKER FURNITURE COMPANY MAHOGANY FOUR POST MAHOGANY TESTER / CANOPY QUEEN BED

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

We're delighted to offer for sale this wonderful 20th century antique Caucasian oriental carpet / rug. Caucasian rugs are generally made in smaller villages not on the same scale as a large carpet producing city. This rug was most likely worked on by one or two women in the house opposed to large cities where it wasn't uncommon for a large assembly line type of operation and upwards of 20-40 women working on the same carpet. We enjoy both, the wonderful timeless rug making empires, and the smaller more intimate tribal design rugs. The field contains a great geometric floral design with multiple border designs. The rug exhibits slight abrash exactly what you like to see in an older tribal area rug. We believe this is a late 19th century carpet but to heir to caution and not nit pick over 10-20 years it could easily be a very early 20th century as well. This is a true antique rug that has not been cut or majorly altered. We note minimal missing fringe or cha and minimal loss to edge binding. The rug measures 46 1/2" wide x 82" long.
