19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE BRADLEY & HUBBARD BACCHUS / DIONYSUS BRASS BEVELED GLASS MIRROR

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

We're delighted to offer for sale this fantastic 19th century antique Bradley & Hubbard firgural brass mirror. Bradley & Hubbard was founded in 1852 in Meriden, CT. The company created a large line of household products & decorative arts including mirrors, door stops, lamps, match safes, and even furniture. We havent offered any of these in a while because we completely stay away from them if they have any metal breaks or chips to the glass. We're proud to say we've been over this one and it's in pristine condition. This example retains it's original easel stand that somehow always seems to get lost on these. There's also a round hanger on the back so this can be used free standing or wall hung. The mirror is decorated with an all over filigree design with a Bacchus or Dionysus casting at the crest. Dionysus was the ancient Greek god of wine, fertility , and often associated with agriculture alongside Demeter. The deity is pictured here with his signuature headress of grapes, ivy, & vines. The mirror is signed B&H on the back and measures 10" wide x 8" deep with the easel extended x 15" tall. The sight size of the mirror is 5" wide x 7 1/2" tall.
