Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure and pride in offering you this fine 18th Century U.S. Southern Colonies Chippendale mahogany Pembroke Table. These specimens were crafted throughout the coastal Virginia region and in Charleston, SC. They differ from the Pennsylvania discipline of Period Chippendale Pembroke tables which were almost always crafted in walnut. This comes to us from a Virginia estate of a collector that collected the very finest in American 18th century period pieces. This is the classic Gothic Chippendale form with rare still in tact original blocked collared feet on Marlborough legs. This pieces earns particularly high marks for its originality. A past owner had added casters to it, but they were removed to restore it back to its complete originality. Both Wallace Nuttings Furniture Treasury & Israel Sacks guide to American period Furniture each extensively covers this exact form of Pembroke table. The table's frame box is nicely built with pegged joinery and double wooden hinged right and left side leave shuttles. The drawer is very deep almost going the entire width of the table. These were never mounted with brass pulls. It has its original lock and a highly figured mahogany drawer facing. Truly one of the finest 18th century, U.S. Southern Colonies, Chippendale, Pembroke tables anywhere. It measures 19 1/2" long, 28" long, 27 1/4" tall and 36" with its leaves locked up on the double sided shuttles. For the Important American Furniture Collector!
