EXCEPTIONAL 18TH CENTURY SUNFLOWER CARVED CUBAN MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK WITH BRASS MOVEMENT BY SAM WERNE
Bay Colony Antiques is honored to offer you this 18th century Chippendale period Cuban mahogany tall case clock. This is a finely Sunflower carved American 18th century tall clock case that was made to house a fancy English Brass movement. These were proficiently carved cases of Pennsylvania. This has the very highest set of craftsman skill set that we believe is a Philadelphia made case. It has a tombstone carved door and tombstone bonnet lights. The bonnet is superbly crafted and we note it had finials at one time. It has an interesting card of a "Tony Prestino" "Antiques" of "The Wesport Auction Co". The original owner of Wesport Auction dated 11/24/1931. The movement is of the highest quality and we have had it serviced and its running nicely. It has a chain drive mechanism and we have its original weights and a pendulum. The 18th century brass movement has brass arabesque applied face mountings signed Sam Werne London. A super clock from an Important Vermont Collection of a Dartmouth College professor. The case towers at 90" tall and is 20" wide. We have had our woodworker tighten the case up and its a wonderful original finish and surface.
