We are honored to offer you this fantastic 18th century American canted sea chest. It measures 41" long, 17" wide and 15 1/2" tall & is artist painted dated June 31, 1944 in chalk under the lid and signed "Jan". The painting depicts a very well done harbor side dock scene with triple masted ship, lighthouse with tenders house. This is a special genre of collecting folk art painting of the Hunt/Cahoon School. It employs dovetail joining all around, becket handle brackets, candle till and nice hand tooling marks. We note its original strap hinges have been replaced & missing its lock.
